Behavior
Student Behavior Policy
To ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all students, animals, and staff, we maintain clear expectations for behavior. We foster a positive atmosphere where kindness, cooperation, and care for others-including our animals -are at the heart of everything we do.
We ask that all students come ready to participate, listen, and engage in a way that supports the group and respects the space. Families will be notified if behavioral concerns arise, and we’ll work together to find the best path forward for everyone involved.
Expectations for Student Behavior
All students are expected to:
-
Respect others: Treat fellow students, instructors, and animals with kindness and consideration.
-
Follow instructions: Listen to and follow directions from instructors to ensure safety and harmony.
-
Be safe and responsible: Avoid unsafe, reckless, or disruptive behavior
-
Respect the space and materials: Use tools, supplies, and spaces appropriately and carefully.
Animals and Peer Interaction
Many of our programs include direct interaction with animals and other students. Therefore, we expect all participants to:
-
Show gentle and respectful behavior toward all animals.
-
Accept and support the presence of other students, regardless of differences.
-
Avoid any actions that may frighten, harm, or stress animals or others.
Addressing Behavioral Issues
We understand that children are learning and growing, and we are committed to working with families when challenges arise. However, the safety and well-being of our entire community comes first.
Our standard procedure for addressing behavior issues is as follows:
-
Verbal Reminder – The student will receive a clear, calm reminder about expected behavior.
-
Time Away or Redirection – If behavior continues, the student may be redirected or asked to take a short break from the activity.
-
Parent Communication – If issues persist, we will speak with the parent or guardian to discuss concerns and collaborate on solutions.
-
Temporary or Permanent Dismissal – If a student demonstrates ongoing disrespect, endangers others, animals, or themselves, or is not receptive to guidance, we reserve the right to send the student home and/or remove them from the program without refund.
Right to Refuse Service
We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students, families, staff, and animals.
We reserve the right to refuse service or discontinue enrollment if a parent, guardian, or caregiver:
-
Engages in disrespectful, aggressive, or disruptive behavior toward staff, students, or animals
-
Refuses to follow program policies or undermines staff authority
-
Creates a hostile or unsafe environment through words or actions
We believe in open, respectful communication and value our partnership with families. However, we will not tolerate behavior that compromises the well-being of our learning community.
Responsibility for Damages
Parents and guardians are financially responsible for any intentional or negligent damage caused by their child to:
Animals
-
Any injury or harm caused to animals may result in veterinary care, the cost of which will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
Studio and Property
Damage to the following may result in a repair or replacement charge:
-
Studio furnishings (e.g., couches, rugs, walls)
-
Pool-related items (e.g., pool liner, large pool toys, basketball hoops)
-
Outdoor items (e.g., lawn chairs, fencing)
-
Art materials, tools, or studio equipment
-
Any other part of the studio or farm infrastructure
These policies are in place to protect the space and living beings that make our program possible. Thank you for your support in maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all.
Damage Assessment and Accountability
While we strive to document and observe all activities, not all areas are under constant supervision or video surveillance. If damage to animals, property, or equipment occurs and a child is reasonably believed—based on observation, timing, behavior, or witness accounts—to be responsible, we reserve the right to request that the parent or guardian cover the associated costs.
We will always strive to approach these situations fairly and with respect, but our priority is the safety and sustainability of the program.
I understand and agree that I am financially responsible for any damage to animals, property, or equipment caused by my child, as assessed by the program director, even in the absence of photographic or video documentation.
Final Note
We are here to foster a joyful, creative, and supportive environment. Clear boundaries help us protect that space for everyone involved. Thank you for supporting a culture of respect and kindness.
